Palm Coast man dies in one-car accident early Saturday morning

A 54-year-old Palm Coast man was killed early Saturday morning in a one-car crash in southern St. Johns County, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.

John R. Wicker, 54, was traveling east at a high rate of speed on State Road 206 about 1 a.m. Saturday when his 1998 BMW drove off the south shoulder of the curving road, patrol corporal Peter G. Young reported.

Charges added to St. Augustine bank robbery suspect

 A 65-year old transient arrested on a bank robbery charge nearly two weeks ago in St. Augustine has been charged with two additional armed robberies.

Robert Keith Sherley is charged as the robber who was wearing a pirate hat while brandishing a knife used to threaten a gift store clerk in a January 2010 case, according to the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office.

The robber took cash from Tom's Fruits and Gifts and fled on a bicycle after slashing tires of three vehicles at the store.

A 65-year-old transient arrested on a bank robbery charge nearly two weeks ago in St. Augustine has been charged with two armed robberies that occurred in St. Johns County.

First Coast News: T-bone collision sends St. Johns deputy to hospital

A St. Johns County Sheriff's deputy has been sent to a hospital after a collision Wednesday night, according to Times-Union news partner First Coast News.

A St. Augustine police spokesman told First Coast News a woman was making a left turn onto San Carlos Avenue from Ponce De Leon Boulevard and into the path of the deputy. The deputy tried to avoid the collision but T-boned her car.

Both were sent to Flagler Hospital for injuries that were described as moderate, according to First Coast News.

Neither driver was identified in the First Coast News report.
