Downtown's revitalization efforts received a major boost last week with EverBank Financial Corporation's official announcement to lease 270,000 square feet of office space in the AT&T Tower 301, which will be renamed EverBank Center. While a conversation on what's needed next to keep the momentum going will bring up several worthy projects across the urban core, here is one opportunity directly related to the EverBank move not to be overlooked.

A 52-year-old Houston man was sentenced Friday in Jacksonville to 35 years in federal prison for possessing a firearm as a convicted felon, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Archery Overstreet was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Marcia Morales Howard.

National accounting firm McGladrey & Pullen LLP has bought back the 30 percent share owned by H&R Block Inc., which will allow greater control at local offices, including the one in Jacksonville.
Company spokesman Matt Gosselin said the change will allow each office to act more quickly, make more local decisions and hire more employees. The Jacksonville office, which has 25 employees, is expected to grow by five to 12 in 2012.
McGladrey & Pullen, based in Minneapolis, offers assurance, tax and consulting services at more than 70 offices nationwide, including the one that opened in Jacksonville four years ago.

South Florida engineering firm Wantman Group Inc. is expanding into Northeast Florida through its newest office.
The office, which opened in late November at 414 Old Hard Road on Fleming Island, will offer full-service consulting engineering, survey, environment and planning services to public and private clients.
The office opened with one employee, but will hire additional employees as business increases.
Wantman Group, based in West Palm Beach, operates five other offices throughout Florida, including a Tallahassee office that also opened in November.

McGladrey & Pullen LLP said Thursday it has completed the purchase of RSM McGladrey from H&R Block Inc.
The company appointed five regional leaders to oversee its markets. Bill Gorman will oversee the Southeast region, which includes Florida.

Scott to unveil 2012-13 budget next week
Gov. Rick Scott will release his 2012-13 budget recommendations Dec. 7, as lawmakers get ready to grapple with a shortfall of up to $2 billion — and state programs brace for another round of spending cuts.
Scott’s office confirmed the date Wednesday, though it was not immediately clear whether he would release the recommendations in Tallahassee or elsewhere.
Last year, Scott proposed his budget in the Lake County town of Eustis during a tea party-flavored event

Crowley Maritime Corp. sold its fleet of company-owned CATCO Arctic All-Terrain vehicles and related assets, including a warehouse and office facility in Deadhorse, Alaska, to Peak Oilfield Services Co.
The sale ends nearly 40 years of specialized tundra transportation services by Crowley, a company news release said. Since 1953, Crowley has provided various marine, petroleum distribution and energy support services in Alaska.
